How to start art journaling with Vicky Winkler of Wildly Creative Wellness

If written journaling is difficult, maybe this freeing and fun creative practice is for you.

As a writer, I find traditional pen-and-notebook journaling a surprisingly difficult habit to maintain. Maybe that’s not so surprising, come to think of it. For me, writing is work - rewarding and fun work, but work nonetheless, and also work I’ve been doing for a long time now. At this point, turning off my inner editor and stepping into a purely creative space with the written word almost feels unnatural.

Maybe that’s why I’m so drawn to the idea of art journaling. Instead of focusing on outcomes, sales, audience reaction, or even my own interpretation of “quality”, what if I could come to a blank page with zero expectations besides self-expression?

In this video I’m joined by Vicky Winkler, a longtime member of The Kettle community and a regular at our Wednesday morning Co-Create Circles. Vicky first introduced me to the idea of art journaling a couple of years ago, and I’ve loved watching her dive deeper into this practice, even opening her own business, Wildly Creative Wellness, through which she offers courses and workshops (links below.) We discuss Vicky’s creative journey, how she discovered art journaling, how to get started, and how to make this practice a regular part of your life.

If you’re looking for a fun, no-pressure creative outlet or have always found yourself doodling during classes and meetings, art journaling might just be for you!
