Thanks for this reminder, Meagan. Besides you :-), another writer I've committed to supporting this year is Maria Popova, author of the Marginalian newsletter. I normally "don't have time" to read her in-depth musings and incredibly researched investigations of art, philosophy, creativity, and the human condition, but I've also committed to slowing down and taking the time to read them and enrich my life.

Then there's the writers themselves, especially newly published writers who don't even know WHERE to start - or have the budget to pay for good PR. They have to do things on their own (e.g. I plan to go all out emailing podcasters, library systems, schools, mom/parent influencers, etc) to promote my book! I don't know ANYONE in the children's literature world other than influencers I've only recently followed on my author account!

Very well said and great ideas. Will definitely be thinking this way as well in 2024. Thanks!

So well said. A lot of what you’ve written I’ve said or written elsewhere over the last five or so years as being a full time writer became nearly unsustainable.

What we spend our money on reflects our values and priorities and I love that you prioritize indie writers.
