I'm just sticking my fingers in my ears and going " la-la-la, can't hear you!" for awhile, I've decided. It's all just too much, as you say. I plan to spend the remaining weeks of the year baking nearly every day, doing holiday crafts, reading, drinking tea, going to craft fair, taking long chilly walks, and seeing and talking with the people I love and enjoy having in my life. That feels like the best way to spend the next month or so. 👍
Ah, friend, this! -- "social media turns this freakout into a contagious mass event, almost a moral obligation." I've been pondering all these things myself, & also starting & thinking, "I should write something' -- esp b/c so many of the hot takes & conversations have focused on the gender divide & males & I know a lot about that, but also....I don't want to get into the fray. Not at a point & time in which every word is dissected & pounced upon. I wish we didn't live quite so far apart b/c I'd love to join you for a cup of tea!
"Not at a point & time in which every word is dissected & pounced upon." YES MA'AM. It's hard to "know things" but to not feel like we're in an environment where we can say what we know, isn't it? I think we definitely should make that cup of tea happen at some point :)
Such beautiful reflections, Meagan - I've also found that my anxiety and tech use mirror each other almost exactly, like a feedback loop.
Thank you for sharing those links - my GOSH, these reflections on midlife!! I'm 41 now, learning more about this time of life, and all of those articles are just hitting home so intensely. It makes sense now. 😂
It was such a treat getting to chat with you...thank you so much for all your kindness and encouragement, and for all your thoughtful questions and reflections!!
Thank You Meagan. Wise words as always.
Thank YOU, cousin! Hoping I get to see you soon.

One upside of this election cycle has been some of the writing that's emerged from it!
