I can so relate. I’m 5 days out from my book release and tonight picked up a book (not mine!) to read. A little voice kept trying to tell me I should be busy (“the work’s not done!”), but I also just need to slow down and breathe once in a while. It felt good. There’s always tomorrow and the next day and the next. It’s so nice to back in a place without urgency.

This resonates with me! I tend to block out free time on our weekends, so the family can ‘do nothing’. However, this looks different for every single one of us. The kids get time for extended unstructured play. My husband can putter in the garage or do some yard work without a timer ticking down until the next event. I can get errands done with the same lazy pace. Or we can all watch a movie, or play a game, etc. We can do what feels good and what actually resets each and every one of us.

Yes! Lazy errands can be restful :) and often what we think of as "relaxation" just isn't. I've never been a "veg in front of the TV" kind of person, for example; I like it from time to time, but it doesn't really feel RESTFUL to me. What restores each of us is so individual!

Yes! This is exactly the post that I needed to read today. Thank you for not only describing the pull of busy seasons but also how you have decelerated from it in a positive way. I'm excited to be a paid subscriber and join your community! 😁

I loved this line: “But all that puttering felt like creating a foundation of peace to help me quiet some of that exterior noise.” Resetting my home (especially my kitchen) during busy times totally helps me feel more grounded and at peace!

Yes! Creating calm around me really does help create calm WITHIN me. Thanks, Sheri :)
