Sadly, I relate to this far more than I'm proud to say. Thank you for the pep talk and truth!

I love this, Meagan! Side note - what are the podcasts about Nordic culture that you listened to? I’d love to listen!

I listened to a whole bunch of different ones about Finland (which I'm learning more about as it's a big chunk of my ancestry) but can't remember specific titles - took a lot of hopping around as many of them were entirely in Finnish and I have a very itty-bitty grasp on the language! - but I also listened to several episodes of this one: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fair-folk-podcast/id1177770160

It's more about ancient Nordic religions, etc, and I found it fascinating.

Thank you!! Definitely going to check that episode out, my ancestry is mostly a Swedish/Finnish/Norwegian mix so I love learning about that part of the world too! You might like the book “The Nordic Theory of Everything” if you haven’t read it!

Thank you SO much for writing about this, Megan. I became a young-ish widow in 2020, and people's assumptions that I am now "on the market" have somehow lured me into thinking about this more, too (even though I'm not yet ready to take on the emotional risks of dating). I'm taking your insight to heart! =)

Oh yes, there's definitely SO much pressure tied up with entering a "dateable" stage, whether or not you are actually considering dating. Thinking of you, Stephanie!
